Flynn

I was commissioned to design a lino print style portrait of a lovely Irish Setter called Flynn. With his beautiful shaggy ginger fur i couldn’t resist doing a colour print, so this was my first attempt at working in coloured layers.

I knew Flynn and his family very well as I would take him for walks with my friends when we were younger growing up. His personality was always very mature and he was always so well behaved, so I thought the best pose to represent Flynn would be from the shoulders up and facing forward. I enjoyed encorporating my logo onto his collar as a little signature to the relationship we had together growing up. This image was printed using Speedball water based inks on cartridge paper.

Just a little side note…

A few months after my design and print of Flynn, I went to watch Wes Anderson’s Isle Of Dogs stop frame animation film. I noticed that the dogs I.D cards were very similar to the style of portrait I had produced of Flynn!
